You can use the roads to Haad Rin, but you have been warned that the roads are not in the best state and unless you are a confident motorbike rider then do not attempt to get to Had Rin, as most accidents involving scooters happen in this area. Our advice is to leave your scooter at the 7-11 at BaanTai and pay approx 60 Baht for a pickup over the mountains to HadRin.

Koh Phangan is about 2.5 hours from Don Sak and approximately 45 min. from Koh Samui Island by ferry. The cheapest way from Bangkok to Koh Phangan would be to buy ajoint ticket from Songserm Travel who operates joint ticket for Ferry and Express boats, bus, railway, airplanes) to Phangan. Or another option is to fly an 1 hr. flight by Bangkok Airways daily from Bangkok to Samui and get the speed boat to Koh Phangan.
Some people think the island is just another place for backpackers or party freaks enjoying the Fullmoon Party at Haad Rin beach. But this is not so small and Haad Rin is only a small isolated part of Phangan.
Phangan has as well a choice of luxury resorts to offer, for example Mandalai Hotel or Raiwin Beach Resort. Both of them offering top class service and can be recommended to everyone able to afford them.
It is interesting how can tranquillity and party madness can blend so perfect on Koh Phangan. On one side, there are the regular happening parties attracting visitors with a wide range of different music, fire works and party style.
